Outside of work, Carolyn likes to spend time with her husband, daughter, and family. She also enjoys exercising, scrapbooking, making stained glass, quilting, skiing, and working with her church to feed the homeless in Washington, DC. Carolyn Turpin, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of experience. She treats patients at Virginia Family Medicine’s location in Fairfax, Virginia. Carolyn is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Certification. She’s also certified to perform Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations and is listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry as a licensed medical examiner. Carolyn has extensive experience in primary care family practice, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and cardiac step-down unit caring for open-heart surgery patients. She also specializes in exercise plans, injury prevention, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress management, and weight loss. She’s a strong proponent of patient education and working with patients to develop healthy lifestyles that prevent health issues.
